Board of Trustees
Erma joined the St. Paul Public Schools after teaching in several other states. She began as an elementary teacher grades 1-6.
Most of her middle career years were spent in working with teachers on curriculum development. During these years numerous subject area syllabi were developed by teachers and published as district wide resource guides. Later responsibilities for elementary, secondary and special education were assumed utilizing teams to guide the educational program for all students.
She worked with many parent advisory groups to plan system wide magnet programs and the rebuilding of numerous school buildings. Under her leadership the first initiative to establish district wide subject area goals and objectives was started.
After retirement she continued to work in interim assignments throughout Minnesota school districts. Under the direction of the St. Paul, Roseville and North St, Paul-Oakdale-Maplewood school districts she headed the formulation of fundamentals for the present 6067 Community Cultures/Environmental Science School Magnet (K-6).
Erma was first elected to the SPTRFA Board of Trustees in 1994. Presently she advocates for students, teachers and public education through active participation in several non profit groups in the St. Paul area.
She holds degrees in elementary education, curriculum and instruction and educational administration.
