Service Purchase Provisions

The state law allowing members to complete a service purchase was repealed on May 16, 2004 in all cases - with one exception:

bulletPrior or uncredited military service may still be purchased through May 16, 2007

Details on the prior or uncredited military service purchase provisions will be available online for both Basic and Coordinated Plan members soon.  Meanwhile, please call the SPTRFA office if you have questions.

Members are able to pay for a military service purchase using tax-sheltered money from a tax sheltered annuity (TSA).
