Pension Facts sets forth in everyday language your rights, benefits, and responsibilities as a member of the St. Paul Teachers' Retirement Fund Association (SPTRFA). The guide's purpose is to serve as a convenient source of information regarding SPTRFA. You, the member, are encouraged to look here for answers to your questions and print any pertinent information for future reference.

  • Coordinated Plan — Coordinated Plan members are those who have started their service covered by SPTRFA on or after July 1, 1978. The Coordinated Plan members are able to receive benefits from both Social Security and SPTRFA after retirement, assuming that they meet the eligibility requirements.
  • Basic Plan — Basic Plan members are those hired by the St. Paul Public Schools prior to July 1, 1978, with no breaks in service and those who did not elect to join the Coordinated Plan in 1978.
